Medium--oil and acrylic
Representational Artist
portraits of people and pets as well as landscapes and still lifes

Although it may not be readily apparent, I am greatly influenced by 19th century representational artists. I love painting portraits of animals as well as children and adults. I am constantly exploring different mediums as well as surfaces on which to paint. Genre, still life, sea and landscape painting interest me as well. I am always excited when I begin a new work or experiment using surfaces such as copper, stainless steel, multimedia board or wood. I also love using acrylic on smooth watercolor rag paper. The results are spectacular.

I have always been a painter, as a child instead of simply coloring in a coloring book, I would cut worn bed linen into pieces and iron them and while the pieces were warm I would draw scenes from my neighborhood in the Bronx on them using crayons. I loved the way colors looked when applied to the warm fabric.

Composition is very important to me. I want the viewer to feel close to my subject. I want my work to touch them. Recently at a group exhibit a some people were admiring a painting I did of a puppy. One woman was actually talking to the painting. That's the way I want the viewer to respond to my work.
